Charlotte had been raised in a castle all her life.  She wants to be more than the kingdom's prissy, little princess.  So, one night she tries to sneak out.  Charlotte is caught by the Head of the Guard.  Now, he is ordered to protect her and follow her every move. 

Garrett is the Head of the Guard.  He has been confined to the castle walls all his life, training to protect the royal family.  Then, he catches the princess trying to sneak out.  Ordered to protect her, Garrett would rather be training and cleaning the armor, then watching over the bratty, spoiled princess.  

Neither of them got their way.  But there are secrets lurking around every corner of the castle.  Traitors, suitors, affairs, and worse are in the castle.  What will Garrett do when he nearly gives up his life for her? How will Charlotte react when she and Garrett get closer and she finds out the secrets  of his past?
