The knots that are building in my stomach started burning, the fire inside me become too much to be ignored.
"Fuck!" I hear a growl. I peek at Nicholas through my lashes, his deep blue eyes are changing into pitch black, and his wolf is talking control over him. He stares intensely at me, clenching his jaws. "You are going in heat," he groans.
My eyes widen.
Shit! Shit! Shit!
........
"Don't dare come near me," I growl, wrapping my hands around my body to cover myself.
"Feisty, huh? I like it," he steps ahead.
"I'm in heat that doesn't mean I'm helpless," I warn. I do not care if he is Ava's brother or not, but I will surely rip his head off if he tries to take advantage of my situation.
"But darling, I can help you. You are new to this. You don't know how much painful it is, do you?" I really do not have any idea about heat. How longer I could control myself from shredding my body? But that does not mean I can give him in.
"I'm not like others. I can handle myself," I growl again.
"Okay! Okay! I get it. I get it," he raises his arms. "You are . . . special."
He strolls near me, I growl, again. I am all ready to pounce at him. I wrong move he is gone.

*****
It wasn't Maddie's choice to be born a half-breed, half Shifter, half Wolfstalker -- a hunter of Shifters -- and it wasn't her choice to keep her identity a secret. But after trying to attend high school like any normal sixteen-year-old, things quickly spiral south when her Stalker uncle finds out about her and catapults her out of anonymity and into the awareness--or possibly the crosshairs--of The Order of the Wolfstalker. Maddie must think fast and figure out a way to keep herself and her family safe, or risk losing everything. Including her life.
