After the events at the Nightless city massacre, Wei Wuxian decided to sacrifice his life. However he was given a second chance at life somehow. A thousand and three hundred years in the future he was reborn as a boy with the same name as his previous life. He grew up in a demonic cultivation sect that was made up of rogues or cultivators from prominent families that were kicked out. It wasn't based in China, instead the sector was mostly based overseas in the United States of America. 
The sect had more modern rules and principles that everyone followed. Love everyone in the sect as family. Protect the children. Show respect to the elders and Grandmasters. All children must attend traditional American school, Chinese lessons, and cultivation school that's taught by clan elders. All genders will learn martial arts. Have courage and always do the right thing. Protect the voiceless. Wei Ying thrived at his sect. He lived a normal life in the twenty-first century. Attending school, being the class clown, the homecoming King, getting caught up on the latest memes and Asian dramas. After being named Grandmaster of his sect and creating a time traveling ritual, his life turned completely upside down.

Every time LWJ is near WWX, he has visions of the events that occurred later in the novel such as the Cloud Recesses burning, WWX giving his golden core to JC, WWX being thrown into burial mounds and WWX becoming the YP. He approaches WWX this time and hopes that he can protect him but is rejected constantly. So he summons most of the cultivation world to tell them about the visions he had seen."
