It was no simple task for their names to be heard side by side. For their story was a complicated one. A sorrowful one. One that was full of longing.
ZAHRA is haunted by the demons of her past, and the what-ifs of the future. A seventeen year old girl tasked with caring for her family when her mother leaves; she has to juggle her responsibilities towards her family; her studies; and, her deen. Crying every night on the prayer mat seems to be the norm for Zahra now. She's drowning, and no one can see it. To fall in love would be impossible for a person in her position, but that's ok since she seemed to loathe the concept anyway.
More than hate...she feared love.
HAMZA is complicated. After moving back to his old home town, he is faced with the one who he could never forget. And how could he? Her crying face is permanently etched in his mind, she plagues his dreams and thoughts, and constant what-ifs are on the tip of his tongue. What if he did something differently, and maybe his and her life could have gone a lot differently.
When they both come face to face with each other, emotions are at an all-time high, memories are bound to resurface, and the past they both desperately tried to bury may be coming up to the surface. Now, they both must make a choice. To bury or be buried.
