As soon as I got back from school I crept inside as quietly as I could as to not let my father hear me as I made my way up the stairs to my room, but the world must have been against me that day, I heard my father down the hall yell.
"Loralie Azure, get in here" he yelled scaring me, So I slowly made my way to the living room.
my mom was stone-faced curled up on the couch and my father was standing in the doorway waiting for me, a glass of some alcohol in his fat hand.

I hit the door and just when I want to turn and grab the doorknob he pushes me with my back against the door. It was forceful but it didn't hurt. He holds both my hands in one of his above my head. Bang! I sat bolt upright. Did I imagine that? That noise? What was it? I clambered out of bed and almost fell down the stairs with the panic that had set in.
