Who made the Gems? What is the purpose of their existence? A tale, caught in the line between fact and fiction, lost to time, has resurfaced. This tale tells the story of the first Gems, the Ambers, and how they came to be, but also, where they have gone.
(Jeremejevite is my Gemsona who narrates this, and Amber is an OC)

Steven Universe, on a mission with the Crystal Gems, finds a large black gemstone with wave like patterns in the colors of fire. He shows it to the gems, who've surprisingly 'never' seen such a gem before, and with a bit of convincing, allow him to take it home. When Steven awoke to get a midnight snack, the gem reformed and appeared in his kitchen. Who was this? Why havn't the gem's heard of him before? Why did he feel such a pull to him? What does he know? All of these questions are answered in, The Onyx Recruit! (Title and cover pending) Ps: when chapters are first published, they're most likely unedited so be wary.

(Steven universe is not owned by me. The only thing owned by me is the characters I add and the separate plot lines I have created)

(This is a fanfiction based on the characters and ideas of the show Steven Universe, which belongs to Rebecca Sugar and Cartoon Network. Emerald, Citrine, and Azurite are my own characters, and the idea behind this story is my own. The Gems, an interplanetary race of light-based beings, once linked to Earth, vanished millennia ago. 5,300 years ago, a long and arduous war took place, with over 1000 years of constant fighting. There was death on all sides: Homeworld, the Rebels, humans, all were subjected to the cruel fate of war. For a time, this is what these Gems would do, travel to a planet, destroy all of its biological life, and harvest the planet for it's resources. Such was their way of being: Life, Death, War and Birth. -------------- In the late 90's, the American government secretly unearths advanced machinery, deemed of "alien origin," and aims to weaponise it for their own gain. Their best minds struggle to decipher it however, and the project is shelved within Area 51 due to it being "too advanced." for the current minds. One man however, brings together a secret division of scientists, with the sole purpose of "making the world a better place". -------------- Fast forward to the year of 2013, and a young boy in a star shirt is rushing down the boardwalk while talking to three multicoloured women. This boy, as known by pretty much everyone in the town, was Steven Universe. After catching his breath slightly, Steven notices an older boy stealing a loaf of bread from a nearby grocery store. Determined to stop the apparent "criminal behaviour", Steven rushes into action, startling his three female companions, and soon all four are chasing the older boy.

This story is a Steven Universe fan fiction that wants to create an alternative point of view on the original show without changing the canon events. For that, I use big amounts of speculation to fill the gaps the show left when it ended. The action is presented in short chapters and is told almost entirely told from my original characters perspective, the one of gems, and some other alien races, curious about their existance, their origins, and their possibilities beyond serving their superiors. I assume you've seen the cartoon before reading this fanfiction. Beware of the spoilers if you haven't seen all Steven Universe, the Movie, and Future.
