Ann Grant wants to do more than sew and clean all day at home. She gets a job working for the very handsome, Sheriff Hawkins in Caribou. Her father decides to adopt a son that won't talk about his past. He disappears right before the murder of Ann's father. She convinces the Sheriff to let her help investigate the murder. Mean while her sister is courting a man named Zachary Ash. Ann knows there is something wrong about him. She can feel it in her gut. Will Ann find out what happened to her father and adopted brother? What is it about Zachary Ash that makes her hate him so?
