Mature
When Iris's turbulent relationship with first love Jeremiah comes to an end, she leaves her old life behind and moves across the country to put distance between herself and the haunting memories of abuse. As she creates a new start, she meets Ezra, who is intent on helping her adapt to the elements of her personality previously suppressed. Despite being miles away from the toxicity, Iris can't shake the fear of being discovered by Jeremiah and what the consequences may be.

Jenny Herrington's home isn't what she wished for. It never really has been. Not even before her mom walked out. Her dad is a deadbeat drunk that beats her now that her mom is out of the picture. He relies on Jenny to bring home money at the expense of dropping out of school. Little does he know that she's now a senior and is graduating the week of her 18th birthday. There's one thing Jenny wants out of her life now: an escape. She wants to move out, leave her dad and her job at Milton Foods behind, and start over again somewhere in the Rockies. Preferably somewhere that's not a grocery store. There's just one problem, though: a way to get there. She can't drive and it's not like she has a car, anyway. In the midst of making plans, a storm enters her life by the name of Brayden Milton: her boss' son and possibly one of the most stuck-up people she has ever met. After making her life miserable for weeks, he apologizes and offers to take her anywhere she wants to go to make up for it. Without another choice, she jumps at the offer. After a traumatic night, she leaves with him for what she hopes will be a better life. They eventually find themselves in Denver and in each other's arms. Her life has taken a 180 and she's struggling to keep up. Not only does she have someone who loves her, but her mom is trying to reconnect. However, Brayden can't stay in Denver forever - he has a life back in Rapid Falls that he needs to return to, one he invites her to be part of. Going back means facing all of her jagged edges again. She doesn't think she can face any of it just yet, so he leaves her with her mother and returns home. Despite her attempt at starting a new life, the jagged edges seem determined to cut her even deeper. Not even Brayden's car seems fast enough to outrun everything in her past that's still trying to dictate her future.
