He believed that he was done with the past, but the past was not done with him. 

As Octav looked at the coin on his palms, he knew damn well that his past had hunt him down. And all of that was for him to accomplish a mission he had pledged to accomplish, one that would bring back the life of the dead leader, King Amaru III. 

And as King Amaru III punched through the ground and stepped on the 21st century land, suddenly his old assumptions about the world, effaced from his mind and were replaced with the realization that the world is a peaceful place and that all has changed. 

However when he comes to realize the world is indeed in dire danger and that it still has no peace in its dictionary, it was then time for him to go old school. His past hunt him again and this time, assisted by Elizabeth Banks, he knows the only way the world can ever taste its life again, is only if they recover the long forgotten cross of demigod Sabatha. 

And this was going to be one hell of a ride for the both of them.
