Sterek - Never Far From Me

"You'll never be far from me." Derek panted, out of breath.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked, wiping off the blood from my knee.
"Meaning, you can't fool this nose. I know your scent Stiles. I'll follow it. I'll know what you've been feeling too."
"So, does this mean you're going to like- protect me or something now?" I shrugged.
"I've been doing that for awhile now." He scoffed.
"Right... So you care about me?" I asked cautiously as I plopped down beside him.
"Something like that." He turned to look at me, for a while we just gazed into each other's eyes. No words were said between us. And in that moment, I felt something different. Something I couldn't put my tongue on. And I wondered, if he knew that. But mostly, I was wondering how he felt.
