You had gone searching for the paranormal, believing that the worst you'd face was death. What you found was more than enough to banish such naivety. Death is a mercy for the hunted, a sanctuary for the tormented, and a respite from the unspeakable things of the world. No, death was not the worst thing you were destined to face.
