Nagisa somehow traveled back in time, a year before Korosensei became his teacher. After unspeakable events took place in his original timeline, Nagisa can say he's happy about seeing his friends alive and well, after a very long time. But with that happiness comes the pain of not being able to connect with them as he did before.
