After failing to defeat the Incubus in the first book of the series, Kelvin and the others, using their acquired intelligence of the imminent threat, help to prepare the nation for the coming apocalypse, a preparation that included bringing all that's left of humanity to make one strong stand at the farthest point from the threat, but the alliance soon began to stumble at internal relations, along side an economic dip. Consequently the alliance begins to suffer. Seizing the initiative, Blackheath and Knightsbridge, make an assault on the struggling city... Making them suffer casualties high up in their ranks, at a time dangerously close to the clash between the living and the dead.

Aureathria and Kelvin who had to travel up north to the elves for help get stuck in life threatening challenges

With a change in government that didn't have the confidence of the people, the demoralizing casualties suffered, the approaching tireless army of the dead, and the problematic return of the living fire's (Infrint) Oracle (Levi) would the struggling city survive.

The years went by as Kira watched everyone else blossom and grow. The children had turned 18 and had stopped aging physically. With every passing year, their powers grew stronger, but they were not the only ones. He was getting closer; they were getting closer. Kira could feel it. It's almost like that tingling feeling on the back of your neck or when the hair on your skin would stand up straight. That strange feeling where a person feels like someone is standing behind them, but when they turn around, no one is there. That is how Kira feels; the intensity of those feelings grows with each passing year. It was only a matter of time before the Gates would open, and once more, Kira would face her own personal demon. He will come for her, and one of them will die, if not both of them. Looking back at her very long life, Kira realizes that she has many regrets. Such as allowing herself to live in fear, sheltering herself away in heaven, giving up her only child, not being there for her or their kin, and only watching what she has created bloom from afar. Had Kira known she was running out of time, she would've done things differently. For the choices she has made, she will pay the price. Time is ticking, like the sands of an hourglass. No matter how hard she tries to delay the inevitable, the sand continues to flow through her fingers. Nothing could prepare them for what is to come. Between the journal and Kira's nightmarish dreams, she doesn't know which scares her more. However, she does know one thing, and that is that she refuses to go down easily, even if it means she must make the ultimate sacrifice. It will be a fight to the finish.
