--- -70 years earlier- --- "She will come," the schoolmaster moaned on her death bed. "She will be more powerful than the world ha-." she paused to cough into her sleeve, blood drenching the white cloth. The schoolmaster's apprentice shuddered. He would be the one the Chosen would replace. He didn't want that. He wanted that title all to himself, for as long as he could keep it. For as long as he lived. "She will be odd, She will bring a following, Don't let her come, Or you will perish without her." The last of the prophecy was sucked out of the old woman's soul and her body lay limp. Her skin turned a black rotten color and her eyes lolled back as she breathed her last breath. "No, master. The school is mine now." The apprentice said harshly as he reached for the vial from which he had fed the schoolmaster poison. He poured the last drop into her mouth and said in a voice not his own, "Mine. All mine now."

Everyone she knew and cared about was murdered in a twisted idea of fun, she was the only survivor. Quickly dumped into a world of supernatural Aurora must find her place despite the fact a possessive werewolf seems to want to tell her what to do. Can she adjust or will she crumble under the pressure? Excerpt: The screams and cries for help faded while silent tears continued to stream down her face. Her hands were slapped over her mouth to muffle any noise that escaped her quivering lips. She wasn't sure how long she was in that pantry but couldn't come out until she was beyond certain that they had left. For a moment, she started to have hope that maybe they wouldn't be able to find her, but a voice spoke up, and fear flooded in once again. "You cleared out the upstairs, too, right?" "Yeah." Another voice responded. There was a slight pause, "Hmm. Then where is that heartbeat coming from, I wonder." His voice had a sickening amusement to it, and her heart rate uncontrollably spiked with the adrenaline pumped through her veins. Was he talking about her? The thought that he could hear her heartbeat was crazy. It just wasn't humanly possible. Footsteps grew closer to the kitchen. Somehow, they had found her. She said one last prayer and goodbye to her life as the pantry opened. "Boo." The man yelled, peering in at her. She was frozen. There was nothing more she could do. She was going to die. "Little Birdy," he stretched out his hand, "come out to play."
