The Linson Family Farm in Weidman, Michigan, is like any other old farm, full of abandoned buildings, abandoned farm equipment, and overgrown vegetation. Hailey Linson, a 5th-generation pastoral farmer, was always taught to stay out of these messes to avoid injuring herself. But recently, Hailey has formed a suspicion that one of these barns, the doors still intact and locked with a padlock and messily boarded up, isn't abandoned. She's seen both her parents guiltily staring at it, heard her parents talking about it, and seen it in her dreams. She's tried to ask her older brother about it, but he's got no idea what's in there either. And it's not like her younger sister will know. She's only seven. It seems like her grandparents know, but there's no way to confirm. Will Hailey ever find out?
When Jane Madarang's neighbor Natalie kills herself and leaves behind cryptic instructions, it's up to Jane and her classmates to unearth deadly secrets.
