Lexa Woods, self-made and proclaimed Commander, was made heartless by the cruel world. She was shown by the world at a young age that love is weakness. The business world did her no favors and reinforced the idea.
Clarke Griffin, prodigy and well-known general surgeon, was knocked down by death. Although life gave her every reason to give up, she didn't. She remained optimistic throughout everything.
