this book is based 5 years after season 1 of stranger things(the only difference is that the kids are 11 year olds not 12 year olds) the boys thought eleven had died but really she was in the upside down. after escaping she realised she couldnt return home (to Mike's house) she lives in the forest of for hopper to find her.
though she never reunited with mike since the upside down had seemed to disappear after the demogorgan was killed.
