Natalie Oullette isn't your average girl. Sure, she has friends, and has good grades, and also has a decent relationship going on with her best friend, William. But one thing separates her from the others. She's the only one brave enough to go past the gates which allows you to create anything your mind can create.
Wait, you don't understand where I'm taking this, do you? You see, she takes online classes. Realistic online classes. Natalie's parents bought the NerveGear as soon as it came out, being released from Japan. One of the NerveGear's functions was to have an application, or more so, game, of a school. It was developed by a high tech programer from Japan, who had created an academy which was surrounded by a barrier. At first, it was just a place for students to go and hang out at, but after a short while, demons began to appear and attack students, forcing them to come back within the boundaries of the school, which seemed to block the monsters out.
After this event, all students were too scared to venture out into the unexplored, terrified by the fact of being killed and kicking them out of the application. The only one calm with this fact was Natalie, who, on multiple occasions, showed this courage and bravery to the student body, even the staff, receiving detention and worse punishments for the rebellion.
But one day as she ventured off in the restricted area, she met a frightening young boy, more or less around her age. Would do you think happens on this encounter? Does she die, or does the young boy find her intriguing, sparing her life?
