Melody is cousin of Harry Potter 'The boy who lived', her mother and father despised anything magical, including the wizarding world.
The day that Harry Potter's parents died something magical happened to Melody. At the exact moment when Lord Voldemort had struck Harry with the Avada Kedavra curse and Harry deflected it, defeating Lord Voldemort.
In the Dursley household Melody was sleeping in her crib in the nursery room that she and her older brother Dudley shared. Then a green mist started to form around her. Once Mr. and Mrs. Dursley came into the nursery room the mist went into Melody's wrist creating a symbol of a shield.
At that exact moment Melody's destiny was set in stone she was meant to be a shield for Harry Potter in his fight against Lord Voldemort.
Or a shield for Lord Voldemort.

The Boy's Fate (Harmione)
In the battle of hogwarts, Harry never finds out the truth of his abilities and scar and as he destroys Voldemort's body after Neville slaughtered the snake, he thought victory was near. He didn't know there was one horcrux left... him. Thus with Voldemort's body destroyed, the soul inside Harry starts to merge and fight against Harry's in an attempt to over throw and control merge into his body. But the reaction and pain is violent and both souls burst causing the untimely death of Harry. But as the master of death, he meets death who offers him a chance to try again as his Death had been a ripple in his destined fate. Without hesitation, Harry accepts, determined to do things differently and knowing he's a horcrux - he vows to not lot any of his friends die. He is sent back to the triwizard tournament where he must restart his journey to defeat Voldemort for good. (Time-travel fiction, Few changes; Harry doesn't find out he was a horcrux in this story, so he doesn't go to the forest to die but he still had the stone in the snitch but never knew.
