The newscaster's face was grim as he looked into the camera, reading from a teleprompter unseen to his audience. He breathed deeply, and began to tell the story. "Tragedy struck in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee today when famed researcher Dr. Lynn Walter-Tuttle was attacked and killed by her own longtime research partner Turing the Bear," he read.

He took a deep breath before continuing, "Turing, called Turry for short, was part of a study concerning human and animal cognition. This experiment was wildly controversial, as are most experiments concerning human-animal chimeras. We are joined today by animal expert Matthew Cunningham and human psychologist Dr. Berry Rodrigez, in the hopes of putting together why this happened."

All for the best, all hidden deep in a forest. After being in captivity for a few days, having seen enough, you decided to take a new route. You faced the head scientist himself, Dr. Walden Darling, and demanded life. "Join me, and you'll never have to worry about death again." You were given the chance to become the head scientist's assistant, and you immediately took the job if it meant saving your life. The Superspecies Two: A Haunting Sci-Fi Horror Mystery by GordonByron
7 parts Complete
A young girl is brutally abducted by a bloodthirsty grizzly, forcing a group of scientists to mop up a genetic engineering operation that is out of control, threatening any and all who enter the woods. One question remains: are the animals really dangerous for no reason at all or does their enhanced intelligence simply make them recognize something damning about human nature that needs to be understood before it's too late? Harmonious coexistence with an emerging highly-intelligent species competing for dominance over the earth or total destruction of humans and animals alike? Those are the two options now. Two groups of scientific researchers are sent to a forest where bear attacks are frequent in order to study what is happening only to find themselves attacked and outsmarted (in part) by the animals themselves. Two environmental action groups also find themselves at odds over the fate of the dangerously genetically-enhanced creatures. One group wants to see the beasts wiped out completely and the other wants to preserve them at all costs, even at the expense of human life. The two sides are locked in an impasse, unable to resolve their differences in an amiable way which leads to ever-increasing tension, animosity, kidnapping and murder. Entire forests are quarantined in an attempt to control and contain the beasts but soon holes are discovered in the operation as key players start disappearing in addition to animals eluding their hunters, fighting back and changing the field of battle to their own terms. Ambushing their pursuers on more than one occasion. As the "pro-beast" and "pro-human" sides chase to their own interests with the unfortunate bears caught in the middle (struggling to establish themselves in a human dominated world), the animals learn more and more to rely on their expanding awareness to survive and thrive in an entirely new world...to evolution shattering effect!

The first time I woke up, it was with a simple purpose: Dismantle. When we were sent to Copper 9, the planet was already a frozen wasteland. The sun had died, or at least that's what the file my system loaded upon landing said. The reason didn't matter to me. All I knew was that there was an endless list of targets: Worker Drones. The first one didn't even have time to scream. I reached him before he could react, my claws piercing his torso and extracting his power source. Over time, the Worker Drones adapted. They were no longer easy prey and began to organize. Some built stronger shelters; others developed makeshift weapons. Each mission became harder, more chaotic. My companions, V and J, seemed to enjoy the increasing violence. For them, every hunt was a game, an opportunity to hone their skills. I pretended to feel the same, but inside, something was starting to break. I made mistakes, let drones escape that I could have eliminated. V accused me of being "too soft," but she never reported me. Maybe because she thought I was harmless, just a temporary glitch. But I wasn't. I didn't know that soon I would find someone who would change everything, someone who would show me I wasn't alone in my confusion. But until then, my existence remained an endless cycle of unanswered questions and an increasingly hollow purpose. That void needed a revolution.
