The Strings of Love

Cherise had lived with her mother, Yan, in their one-bedroom apartment her whole life. Adopted as a baby, when she had more fingers on her hand than days on earth, it was all she'd ever known. Two single beds, a lumpy sofa, the kettle and toaster, and the jammed cutlery draw; life was as simple as they came. So, uprooting, across thousands of miles and countless state lines, happened to be the craziest thing she'd ever done. But unbeknownst to her, it wasn't about to stay that way.

Heart crushed, he didn't know how he'd carry on, numbing the pain in his heart with hard liquor and endless women. But he was the head of the family now, and had the care of his siblings and family legacy to think of, and these days, years later, with a child of his own added to the mix, his heart was finally beating once more. But with the appearance of a vivacious cherry blossom in town, threatening to pull apart everything he's carefully weaved into place, he isn't sure just how much longer he'll be able to say that.
