In the last centuries people had on Earth, humanity managed to discover a planet that had a lot of Earth-like attributes which supposedly could be inhabited. After the first settlers have arrived on the new planet and confirming that it is indeed habitable, people started to emigrate to their home, as Earth was quickly being drained of its last resources and the extreme climate became the number one threat. Upon arriving on the new planet, people start exploring their surroundings and quickly rebuilding civilisation. For the first few decades, it was like a golden age.
