Ever since she was a young girl, Brigit was taught that a princess should be rescued by a knight in shining armour. She dreamt of the day down to every detail; she would be in the tallest tower of a dark and ominous castle, framed by stormy skies upon a backdrop of thunder and lightning. There she would wait for a brave knight to challenge a fierce dragon, proving their worth and valour...
Because that was how it was supposed to go. How it's always been. So, once she was of age, Brigit found the perfect dragon to host her debut.
But nothing goes to plan when she arrives at the castle. Stuck dealing with witches, fae and a dragon having a mid-life-crisis, Brigit soon questions whether being rescued is really what she wants.
With a taste of adventure, some witchy powers and a new appreciation for the wonders of dragon gold, she gets to thinking...

Then mere inches above the calm waters of the loch my dragon rolled me upright as we skimmed the surface. My belly felt like I was floating and weightless and I felt the spray on my face from the disrupted water surface as the powerful wings of my golden companion drove us along. We climbed again and I could see spread out before me my home and all of the Hebrides. In the distance out to sea we rapidly approached a thick band of snow white clouds and drove through them again and again rising higher.
