I sat in the back seat, glass piercing my arms and forehead. It still hadn't processed inside my head that this was all really happening. That we were all so close to death now.

He murdered her parents right in front of her, only telling her that she couldn't tell anyone what had really happened. If she did, someone she cares about will end up dead. Evangeline believes him for the longest time. Forced to live in fear, she stays away from the people she cares about the most, but it doesn't last forever. Now she's lost her parents and Xavier, the one boy she feels she could ever love. But maybe she could love again. Evie feels guilty enough about his death... without falling for his best friend.
