Substitute teaching is not an easy job. Whenever a regular teacher is away and a sub comes in, children and teenagers may act out and not follow the rules like they are supposed to. And the substitute teachers who put their heart into helping those students end up dropping out of the profession because of all the craziness and nightmares going through their heads. They might not even want to plan on becoming a full-time teacher.

Twenty-three-year-old Paisley Ricks the beaver talks about the reality of how hard it is to be a substitute teacher. She faces the challenges of being in command of students while their regular teachers are away and choosing which positions work for her. She also tries to go to the same schools if she possibly can. With the help of her family, the teachers, and other staff members, Paisley learns how to take control of her decisions and be courageous as a sub.
