Problems

Eighteen-year-old Maurie was diagnosed with schizophrenia a month before she turned seventeen. After leaving her toxic family, she moves into her best friends, Lena and Alex's, home-town house. From the moment she steps into her new home she finds herself strewn into a life of magic, mysteries, and newfound issues. Everyone has problems, but are hers too much to handle.

"Well, took you long enough" I hear Alex say as he puffs out another cloud of smoke for his cigarette, a habit he picked up in rehab. I hate it but don't say anything, knowing it won't do any good. He drops the cigarette on the ground and stomps on it with his foot, "You ready?" he ask softly. I nod my head, looking to see Lena, my other best friend, walking back out of the house with Jordan and a duffle bag. I begin to walk towards my front door, my parents are away for the night and it gave me the perfect opportunity to put my getaway plan I to action.
