When Keaton Pravit saves Zhao Huang his entire life takes a course for the beautiful and horrifying. Thrust into a world of demons and acts of seemingly random violence all threads in a web of lies and death touching every part of society.
Zhao Huang, a hybrid of human and demon ancestry is searching for the cause of what he once thought was senseless acts of violence. As he wanders the city of Avalon's criminal underworld he learns of a new drug known as "Hysteria" and it's link to the violence. Created by mixing demonic blood with opioids, the drug creates an intense euphoric high. But it also induces a cannibalistic hunger that can only be sated by consuming human flesh. The closer he comes to the truth behind the drug and the violence the farther he goes towards losing his humanity.
Keaton Pravit, a once hired assassin for the White Lotus Syndicate now a courier for the criminal underworld. Traverses the city of Avalon trying to regain a sense of self after a personal unspeakable horror. When he see's Zhao about to kill himself he saves his life. The two make a deal for Zhao to give life one week show him it is worth living. The two meet again By chance and become friends. But as they exist in each other's lives, they hide their secrets well.
Together the two of them search for an answer to what it is to exist. But every action they commit pulls at the web bringing the spider out of hiding. It's presence alone begins to shake the foundation of civilization. Will their lives be enough to save anyone, if they can't even save themselves.
