The pain I felt wasn't all physical. Though I'd felt plenty of it in the last five months, most of my pain came from my own thoughts. They haunted me and caused me more anguish then I'd thought possible. It was all I could do to create the illusion I was still alive and functioning. I wasn't fooling him though, he could see through every wall I'd constructed to keep everyone out. He heard it all. All my friends had turned on me, they called me traitor, some even called me blood traitor. My own family called me a blood traitor.

The scars I now carried weren't only from my enemies, they were from myself. Somehow the physical pain helped me forget for a moment the mental anguish which plagued me. I knew one day I would cut too deep and everything would end; a part of me secretly wished it would happen sooner rather then later. Maybe then the pain would completely disappear and my daunting future would vanish with it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After losing Cedric, her closest friend, Ivory Black didn't know what to do. She was numb most days, but she had to be alert. After Barty Crouch's warning, she knew Voldemort and other Deatheaters would soon be after her. Lucius could only protect her for so long before they found a way in.
She thought she would be safe at Hogwarts, at least there Dumbledore would shield her. What she wasn't expecting was the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. She was a horrid woman, who seemed to have it out for Ivory and Harry instantly. She also had the power to make everyone have it out for Ivory.
With her own thoughts haunting her, can she become strong again? Strong enough to save the ones she loves? Or will the never ending torment lead to total darkness?
Unfortunately for her, having her ex-headmaster and the Dark Lord conspiring against her was only one of the many problems she was facing. Some time ago, she had visited a fortune-teller. Never having been a fan of divination, Nephera simply thought of it as a way to pass the time, the news she received, however, were far from happy. Loss. Heartbreak. Betrayal. Who would she lose? In the middle of a war, the possibilities were endless, truly. And what did heartbreak mean?Sure, she and Sirius had started out as enemies, but now they were dating, and their relationship was thriving, surely, he wouldn't break up with her. And who would betray the Order? With the Dark Lord growing stronger every passing day, people were growing scared, there was no telling what someone might do to stay alive. Not to mention, the fortune-teller's words were only the tip of the iceberg when it came to cryptic tales about the future. After a visit to the Fae kingdom and a talk with the High Fae, she found out that her life and its course had been marked in the skies the second it began. Twenty-one stars fell from the sky the day she was born. And now, those same stars told the tale of three true lions and two true snakes, who had an imperative role to play in the war. What did the twenty-one falling stars signify? Nephera raked her brain time and time again to figure it out, but she couldn't. And who were the three true lions and two true snakes? She only had one other friend in Slytherin, Regulus Black, who was serving as her spy on Voldemort's side, but in Gryffindor, she had a lot more than three friends.
