This book takes place after CITY OF HEAVENLY FIRE. But it has a little twist to it. In the book CITY OF LOST SOULS, CHAPTER: 19 Love and Blood, Sebastian attempts to sexually abuse (RAPE) Clary, but we all know he doesn't succeed. 

My book alters that part. It takes that scene and changes it, making Sebastian succeed in the attempt of rape.

In other more simpler ways it means that Sebastian raped Clary & she lied to Jace about it when he asked her. 

So what happens when 4 months after the rape & Sebastian's death she starts having some health problems? New people come into her life, Old ones too.
