LAURA, a descendant of the Originators, has always known she owns this puzzle, this responsibility. Laura has internalized this lifelong burden; in turn, she's developed a dissociative disorder she's effectively kept secret from everyone. Laura's leading the effort to solve this climate crisis, with her team of global environmental, atmospheric scientists for the U.S. company, H20, Corporation. Just when Earth's temperatures are beginning to normalize, the barometer starts climbing back up. Laura believes the human key to the Earth's weather crisis, is the team's newest member, MERC. Only he's not human and he's a charismatic psychopath. Merc's a first generation Originator, who's covertly working with the Untouchables. The Untouchables booby-trapped the Earth with artifacts believed to be creations of Earth's early civilizations. These machines of destruction are responsible for the blazing heat that is incrementally destroying the Earth. What causes complications for Laura's progress is her growing attraction to Merc, oddly because he's as void of a conscience as she is. She needs to figure out if Merc knows where the machines are so she can shut them down. Merc in turn, needs to stop Laura from finding the machines to keep Earth on its path to ruination. They are more powerful than they are letting on, and have no qualms about killing the other.

Maxine is an 18-year-old girl who is bored and lonely, living in California in the year 2351. She's always been fascinated with how humans used to live in houses, drive cars, and the fact that there used to be forests and parks everywhere. Now, after a war that nearly erased humanity, people are forced to live a strict, dull, communist lifestyle. Everyone seems okay with this way of life. Everyone except Maxine. Maxine had always been special; she was often able to predict events. How? She didn't exactly know...yet. When she starts having dreams about a tropical island where people live as they did in the 21st century, she meets the man of her dreams: literally. Her new boiling emotions bring her to wonder...what if it's a real place? When she starts her search for the island and bumps into Elis-the man in her dreams-she suddenly knows it wasn't all just a making of her imagination. Finding that island could mean finding the answers to her burning questions, and maybe even answers to questions she didn't know she had. However, not everything is what she thought it would be when she finally finds the island, and her dreams become a harsh reality. Elis turns out to be someone else, and when another man swoops in every time Maxine is in danger, she becomes confused about what love really is. The Advisors, the ten women governing the world, want to assimilate the people of the island, not knowing that those people have an extreme advantage over them. Maxine also learns that her family has been lying to her about who she really is. Ultimately, when the Advisors come to destroy the island, she must face the fact that she is the key to the island's salvation, and embracing her rapidly developing abilities is the only way to do so.

In one year, one million people across New Jersey die--and no one knows why. At the same time, thousands of people develop supernatural abilities and no one knows why--not even these new "subhumans". Some can fly, some can read minds, and some can bend steel with their bare hands. Kat Jamison wakes up one day with her right hand turned to steel and the ability to morph it into anything she thinks of, from keys to knives. While the power is fascinating, having been abused by every person she's been with, the metal hand makes her feel like another object to be used. Several blocks away from Kat, Kyle Mills and Beth Ryder, high school sophomores, discover that they can run faster than the speed of sound and struggle to keep their powers a secret. Thinking these new subhumans are terrorists, the military hunts and guns them down. One subhuman named Eli Hunter rescues Kat from a group of trained killers then leads her on the run. They escape into Manhattan with Kyle, Beth, and other subhuman refugees where they think they'll be safe. While there, they discover a genetics lab that has been leaking GMO's to the public that may be linked to their powers and make plans on breaking in to find answers. But Kat has learned to never trust anyone and is convinced she can protect herself while the rest of the world is falling apart. Kyle wants revenge on the ones killing them, Eli wants to know where his powers have come from, and Kat only wants to be normal again. With soldiers after them and mad scientists waiting for them inside the lab, they may not make it through this alive, let alone find the answers they're looking for. Subhumans: the Invasion

56 parts Ongoing

Kyle Mills is the most powerful subhuman on the planet. As a teenager, he used his powers to fight crime and take down evil organizations. But it was never enough. Twenty years later, after tensions between humans and subhumans reached a breaking point, the government sanctioned subhumans into a new district of lower Manhattan called The Homeland. Ever since then, humans and subhumans have lived in two separate worlds. But when a mysterious man named Lucius arrives and offers humans new powers even greater than what subhumans possess, Kyle is suspicious. Lucius wants to train humans for a war that's coming, but only the ones who take his powers will survive. He asks Kyle to be his right hand man and offers to give him more power than he's ever dreamed of. Lucius' new "neohumans" are stronger, faster, and smarter than any subhuman, but they lose all sense of right and wrong. Everything in Kyle is screaming not to trust Lucius. If he refuses, he'll keep his morality, but die in the war. If he accepts, he'll lose it, but live. When being good has never been good enough, could being bad finally be the answer?
