After five long years, Tyvon Raleigh Sands comes back to his family home in Los Angeles after mysteriously disappearing a week after his 17th birthday. When he knocks on the front door and is greeted by his sister, Regina, and his mother, Victoria, it's a miraculous reunion that is everything that the Sands family could possibly dream of.

But, there's Odell, the charismatic patriarch and head of Techtonic, a company specializing in augmented reality that has taken the world by storm. He appears delighted by the return of his long-lost son, but are things as they truly seem on the surface?

Tyvon also has a mysterious, eccentric figure waiting in the wings who has been mentoring him throughout the years he's been gone. Tyvon isn't quite the same as he was before his disappearance, and this mentor of his assisted in salvaging his sanity after it was pushed to its limits during the first year of his absence. When the two sides of Tyvon's life threaten to clash, will Tyvon have the fortitude to persevere, or will the tumultuous, difficult dynamics that have always plagued the Sands family be too much for Tyvon to handle?
