He was protected by a mysterious monk's family until the Monk was forced to pass the child to his new guardian. Serena Tsukino's whose family protected and raised the small human boy. But she was told if his alter ego Inuyasha were to ever come back out, he'd be more powerful than any other being alive. But he is bound to be protected by a new maiden. But the only way he can return is with the kiss of a pure virgin and she has to deliver the chant after she's kissed him, so he can't just be released by a kiss alone she has to kiss him and then recite the spells magical words to set him free.
