Lavender is found by Pineclan as a young kit, unable to remember anything except for her name. The clan cats find her mother, but she has been killed by a fox. Lavender is brought back to Pineclan's camp, where her fate is to be decided. A Pineclan queen, Starlingwing, begs the leader to let her raise the kit. Lionstar refuses, until the clan's young medicine cat has a strange dream. It seems that Lavender's fate is tied to Pineclan's, and if she is turned away, the clan could face disaster. As Lavenderpaw becomes an apprentice, her connection to Pineclan's destiny becomes even clearer. Will Lavenderpaw be able to save Pineclan from an unknown threat, or will she fail to fulfill her destiny?

Though StarClan has plans for him, too, and when he starts getting dreams about five unknown kits, he starts to wonder if maybe he's part of something bigger than he wants to be.
