The World has irrevocably changed. Empires and nations are mere sand castles that get washed away back into the sea. With the fall of the Nazis and the subjugation of the Japanese under MacArthur's boot, the soul, talent, and will of the European Empires have been crushed under the boot of the new masters of the world, the United States and the Soviet Union. Both nations have a vehement anti-colonial policy and with the British and French unable to work up so much as a half-hearted response in Egypt, they began their rampant decolonization of Africa and subsequent decline, but the decisions of old, made in Berlin eighty years ago, are leading to the problems of today on the savage continent.
The tides are beginning to run back onto the beach, and the process will start anew, but many will vehemently oppose a series of events that could lead to the collapse that is the Second Portuguese Republic. This empire was a legacy of the past, but can this Empire renew itself into something new or will the tide send Portugal careening back into the sea.
This story is an alternate timeline where Portugal manages to keep its colonial empire through political intrigue, diplomatic successes, military might, and sheer force of will. In a world of shattered empires, rising superpowers, and shifting alliances, Portugal is at a crossroads between sticking with the past or falling in line.
The story contains both real and made-up characters. Any copyrighted work is owned by its respective owners or entities.
