Shimmer Lake (TAKING BREAK)
It's 1917 in the tiny town of Cobbingham, England. Rowena Griffinson turns 18 tonight. And all 17 years of her disappointing life have been spent in the Griffinson Manor, up until now. No friends. No freedom. No love. At least not from her father, Mr. Merle Griffinson, current owner of the manor, and not to mention emotionless and distant. Rowena and Mr. Griffinson rarely speak, until a fight on the night of her 18th birthday where things take a turn for the worse. After their big blowout, Rowena runs into (LITERALLY runs into) a boy her age who also seems to be in trouble... Each with their own issues, they decide to leave together for the next boat out of town. Albeit certainly with no lack of quarrels...The boy is very guarded, but Rowena is clingy and just as stubborn. But Rowena has another problem not even she is aware of. As each night passes, something takes over Rowena, causing an unconsciousness during the night... Whatever it is, it could consume her if she doesn't do something about it. What secrets lie beyond the manor for Rowena? And what secrets lie beneath Shimmer Lake? *This is a work of fiction, all people, places and events are purely fictional. A Guardian
"The world around her swam with mottled light. How long had she been fighting?" So...in sixth grade we took this computer-skills class. Our final test was to write a short story in Microsoft Word. My story ended up fleshing out into the trilogy I am working on and planning to publish at somepoint in my life, but I realized how incredible my writing skill has improved between just the two or three years.
