The year is 2067. The Union Of Axis Alliance (UOAA) governed by some of the worlds most powerful and radical nations has won WWII and taken over most of society. The United States Of America no longer exists, it is now called Neomerica, a neon jungle full of crime, sex, augmented humans and super-corporations. On the outskirts of the Neomerica capital, Nova City, is a rural forest region called Wormward, which harbours the infamous UOAA owned, Wormward Asylum. An all female institution for the criminally and mentally insane, or so the inmates are lead to believe. When South Wormward youth, Poem Presley, is sent to the asylum after a fight turns deadly, she quickly discovers along with five other inmates that the asylum is run by diabolical nurses, twisted robots and UOAA soldiers. After enduring weeks of violent attacks, psychological torture and trauma, Poem decides enough is enough and the group follow her lead in an attempt to escape. Through hallways full of blood, death and traps, the question remains. When you read her story, you'll find yourself trusting her, loving her, rooting for her. But you see, not everyone gets to trust the world. Not everyone has a happy ending. --- Halfway through the kiss however, his attitude changed; instead of being a loving embrace, it became a fierce trap. His grip on her waist tightened, trapped her where she was instead of simply holding her where he wanted her. The hand in her hair grabbed a section of it, enforcing his demand for her not to go anywhere. Before she knew what was happening, he left go of her hair, and pushed her to the ground. She gasped, suddenly able to breathe. He stood up and walked over to her. He placed a soft hand on her cheek, just like he used to when he was telling her how special she was to him. None of the emotion was there this time however, all she could feel radiating from his was rage. "You shouldn't have run off, babe," he said bitterly. "I was about to show you how much I loved you. Instead, I now have to show you what happens when you anger me." --- The men regarded her, before she was shoved to the ground and one produced a whip. Child
Child is a steampunk sci-fi thriller. In second person, present tense, you, a mostly introverted, non-binary ten year old, are found at a train station with no belongings and no memory, by a nice woman in a WWI style gas mask. When nobody can find any leads as to who your parents are or where you came from, she adopts you as her own child. Your search for truth and need for belonging lead you on a bizarre adventure involving a group of train thieves, a message conveyed through ant trails, a group of unqualified astronauts, a chocolate milk-loving drag queen, and a lot of things you would give your left ear to unsee. I'm not sure what this is going to be when I'm done. I've finished the whole plot narrative, but I have to fix the writing, because it's too fast-paced and it's supposed to be slow. Constructive criticism is appreciated. I feel like I should say this so nobody gets confused: It isn't related to anything going on now. It's future/past. Human DNA is composed of stars. Stars that have been broken down into nanoparticles that have dispersed themselves throughout the universe; they harness the energy of the cosmos and transitively embedded their limitless potentials in every fiber of conscious existence. Logically, there has to be a reason then as to why life was given to those on Earth. Why humans were given such divinities from the universe. After all, the saying goes, "everyone was born for a reason," meaning those born with unworldly energies must have been given life to fulfill an unknown purpose that is greater than themselves. We are only given a certain amount of time in this world to live up to our given potential because, just like the stars, humans also fade away. A star's glow is a result of a series of chemical reactions that are housed at its core. Similarly, our lives are like a series of chemical reactions, vibrant, unpredictable, chaotic. They only last for a certain amount of time before the limiting reagent is used up in its entirety, ceasing the continuation of spontaneity. All of us have a limiting reagent, a chemical that is used up first, which then halts the chemical reaction and stops its continuity. And unfortunately, some of us possess a more powerful limiting reagent than others, making their chemical reaction burn out quicker than others. In this society, when your time is up, it is up, there is nothing else to be done. Any form of medication or medical intervention that was not created naturally by the Earth is frowned upon. That form dilutes the existing energies and manifestations of limitless potential. It makes those who use it less than and, in a way, tainted by the inconveniences of man-made alterations. I was slowly losing consciousness, but my mind never seemed happier now that I was dying. The white walls with big bright lights did not resemble heaven; in fact, it was quite the opposite. I thought I had died. When I came to, I found myself in this strange place, disoriented and confused. I looked around and found another five pairs of eyes looking at me with the same emotion swirling in their gaze. Now, 15 years later, I train with these girls. Our makers take care of us, feed us, and make sure we are clean, healthy, and fit. Some of us never had that; that's probably why it took so long for us to realize we were being used. The dirty work they made us do, none of us questioned it. How could we when we were taken off the streets? For a chance at normalcy, we settled for anything, even if that meant blurring the lines of right and wrong. After a mission gone haywire, we started noticing, and now we strike back to take our voices and reclaim the power that was used on us as a way to control us.
