"Yes" we are finally here shouted the children as they got out of the car onto the shrivelled grass.
Milly looked up at the tall, wiltered-looking trees that seem to envelop the camp site from the rest of the world.
As the parents went up to the reception to retrieve the golden keys for the tiny, old houses, Jane, Sam and Milly took in the scenery.
A conversation about a ramshackled and haunted house on the hill perked their interest.
As the parents came back, they excitedly announced that they had been invited to a adults only get together. As the adults, left the children realised that they had so much time on their hands and they could go and explore the house on the hill.

The sky was a flat, depressing grey and the incessant, soaking rain left her constantly chilled. It was a typical "liquid sunshine" day in the Pacific Northwest. They drove past a single tall scraggly tree on top of a hill shrouded in mist. The creepy tree was full of screaming crows. How could she hear them from inside the bus when she couldn't even seem to hear the voices of the kids around her? Geez, that was an awfully freaking dark image. She shivered and looked away. What did they call a group of crows again? Right, a murder of crows. Perfect. The weather was certainly the only thing that was typical these days, although you'd never know it by looking around the bus at most of the kids as they sat joking and gossiping with each other just like they had before... before that day everything had changed. "Finally! - It's about damn time we arrived." groaned Caz as he stretched out his broad shoulders while he got off the claustrophobic train. "It wasn't that bad. At least there was some nice scenery." They had arrived in Finland, for a winter vacation. They were to spend two months up in the majestic peaks near Lake Inari in a cozy cabin. The two men were accompanied by their comrade Ethane who inherited the cabin from his mother. "Drawing again E? What're you drawing this time?" questioned Sam. "Him," stated E flatly. "E? Who's 'him'?" "I saw him, in the forest... But now I forget." Caz then tuned in, "I'm sure it was nothing. The tramcar was going pretty fast and with the sun setting, there are a lot of shadows. I'm sure it wasn't anything to be concerned about." Ethane figured telling his friends his observations would only make them more uneasy, so he went along with it. Sam then looked back into the tram at the ghastly figure sketched onto the glass window to see that the fogging around the image wasn't dissipating...Complete

On a frigid and blustery October evening, the radiant moon cast its glow upon a solitary willow tree, perched atop a hill. Beneath the tree sat a mysterious man, clutching a large, worn storybook. Suddenly, his gaze was drawn to a child, no more than 10 to 13 years old, wandering aimlessly nearby. With a welcoming gesture, the man motioned the child over to him. "Why are you out here all alone on such a freezing night?" he inquired with concern. The child merely shrugged in response. The man sighed and reached out his hand, offering it to the shivering youngster. Without hesitation, the little boy took hold of the man's hand and they made their way over to the willow tree where a cozy fire was already burning. "Here you are, little one," the man said gently.
