North has been in five foster homes in just one year, mostly because it was her fault. Her two younger brothers, Asher and Oliver, always beside her. That's when the Thompson's decided to adopt but life isn't going to as easy as it seems.

Whenever I write stories I try to do my research before hand so I try to make it as realistic as possible. No I do not know about adoption or a life of a kid from first hand so I may get some things wrong. While not every foster/adopted kid is like North, Asher, or Ollie, it's still to help bring awareness to the situation that is affecting our world. North's character is definitely dramatized for plot or story development obviously... so I'm aware of that. Anyways please enjoy :)

Exactly like the title says, someone a while back asked me to do a Kim Burgess adoption fanfic but I haven't had time to do a a complete book, it's getting harder because of writers block to complete them where as one shots are smaller and easier to finish. My life used to be pretty boring. Everything was average. Normal family, normal looks, normal house, normal job, normal life. The only non-boring aspect of my life was my best friend which was only because she always managed to mess it up somehow. I didn't really mind much because it kept things interesting. That is until she disappeared leaving me to care for her fatherless child with nothing more than a few hundred pounds and a sorry note. She did ruin my old life. She ruined everything that I'd actually cared for. My parents hated the fact that I was 'throwing my life away' for a child that wasn't mine. Not to mention illegally. Easton King has had a hard life. His parents abandoned him as a toddler and he's been from home to home for as long as he can remember. Nobody seems to want him, they just keep him for a little and eventually they all throw him away to be somebody else's problem. Because of this, he has never been close to anyone. He's learned from a young age that he can't trust anybody to stick with him. Don't get me wrong, he still has friends. In fact, Easton is one of the most popular boys in school. No one knows about his home life because he never talks about it and never hangs out with people outside of school. Derek Danvers (his friends jokingly call him DeeDee) has had a better life. He lives with his family and they are loving and decently forgiving like most parents are. He has suffered from depression and anxiety but not nearly as severely as Easton. He lives his life one day at a time and he doesn't depend on his friends but he trusts that they'll stay by his side, and if they don't then it's for the best. They didn't deserve him. Everyone in the school knows Easton puts up walls. No one gets within two or three feet of him, no one asks about his home life, and no one asks if they can go to his house or if he can go to theirs.
