"Hailey, watch where you're going! You almost crashed into that poor boy." Mom yelled from afar.
I looked up from my phone and scoffed at the surprisingly cute boy in front of me. "He should watch where he's going, I could've fell."
"Hailey, apologize right now. Sorry about my daughter, what's your name, son?" My dad asked the boy, sending me disapproving glances from where he was standing.
"Kayden," he mumbled, looking down. "And it's f-fine."
"Sorry, Kayden. Hailey, apologize now." Dad gave me that stern face and warning look.
I sighed and rolled my eyes again. "Sorry I'm not sorry."
"Oh my goodness, Hailey." Mom face-palmed, and shook her head in disbelief.
And with that, I walked away like the bitch I was.
What I didn't know, however, was that this boy - Kayden, was it? - was going to make a huge impact in my life someday.
And I'll be needing him more than anything and everything.

Hailey Anderson had a horrible life. Even though her parents acted like they loved and respected her, it was the complete opposite. Her dad always came home late from work with a beer bottle in his hand, and she wouldn't have been surprised if he was secretly having affairs behind her mom's back. She had to make money somehow, so she did it by stripping in front of a bunch of perverted old men. Her grades in school were terrible and she was afraid she might have to do continuation school.
Her parents, never listened to her.
Her friends, were betradors.
Her boyfriend, cheated on her.
Her siblings, ignored her like she was an unwanted shit.
Well, except Antonio, who was her idol. But he too hardly paid attention to her from trying to make money by selling drugs and fighting in gangs.
Never in her life has she heard the words, "I love you" directed to her. And suicide was really starting to cloud her mind like a stormy day.
Well, all of that was about to change.
And then, there was Kayden Flores . . .
