"Why won't you love me?" He asked me, once more. His eyes were begging for an answer I wasn't prepared to give him. He knew the story, so why wouldn't he understand that I just couldn't.
"Because" I started. I held his face in my hands, wiping away a tear that fell. I should be the one crying, not him. "You're not ready yet, to fix my broken heart yet." I said. And with that, I turned and walked away.
When you're heart is as broken as mine, you need someone who is strong enough to put the shards back together without feeling the pain and loss that I went through. And Luke...was not strong enough...yet. I honestly hoped that he would be soon.
