(Cover by someone else who's not me- and I have no clue who they are)

(Also, I MIGHT create a new personality for the hermits, since I have trouble with already existing ones for some reason.)

(Very mild scenes and language.)

A freak storm. Injuries. It was something the hermits have never seen before. Perhaps a block hit them out of the blue- maybe they fell. All they know is that they got hurt, and blacked out for more than a minute. When they woke up, they recieved strange new abilities. Superpowers. On their wrists, there is a strange engraved symbol on their skin. What could this mean? Are the powers a blessing or a curse? Does this have anything to do with the 'spirits'?

(Another Note: Say whaaaat? #1 out of all those hermitcraft?? Wow. Also, I upload 2 chapters or more a day.)

"Each world has its own story. Even if you tried to get a story from me, I wouldn't be able to tell you half of it. There is so much life in each build and block, and each event has told their own tale. But it has to start somewhere." Fate has the oddest ways of getting people together. It might tear your world apart as you know it. It might give you loss and grief. It might even show you a side that you never knew you had. But it does all this for a reason. What is that reason? Well... You'll have to find out. This is the origin of how Hermitcraft came to be. Just remember-- Every end of a story is a new beginning for another. - Some information before you start the story: - This story takes place before Hermitcraft officially started, so maybe 7-8 years ago or so. - Despite this, though, the world is set in 1.13/1.14. - If you die, it's permanent. There are no respawn mechanisms. - The backstories for each character are based around events that happened in Season 6, which might not be relevant in seasons to come. - The total word count for this story is 49,001. It was originally published on October 16, 2019. - I try to mention each Hermit at least once, but I might have missed some. DISCLAIMER: This book does hint at a bit of shipping. I write ships based on the Hermits' Minecraft personas and not their actual IRL selves. None of this content is meant to offend anyone, it's purely a writing hobby. If any of the Hermits find any of my content disrespectful or uncomfortable, I have no problem in taking it down. With all that being said, enjoy the story!

When trying to repair a mysteriously obsidian-clogged conduit, Impulse suddenly sees what appears to be a shark. Confused, he swims closer to get a better look... oh no. That's not a shark. As the creature tightens its hold on the server, bringing more and more of the Hermits under its control, and Tango turns up scared and with a broken arm, the message starts to become apparent: Trust no one. Not even your friends. Especially not your friends. After all, that leaves you Playing Open-Handed. This book is a sequel to another of my stories, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, but you don't necessarily need to read that to understand most of what happens. Enjoy! --- Story by me Inspiration and characters from Hermitcraft Witty comments (but actually not the lore this time) with help from ausforyou (Okay, this time I'm gonna put a monologue from Henry V because why the hell not, nobody reads this far into the description anyway: Thus says my king to Harry of England: Though we seemed dead, we did but sleep. We could have rebuked you at Harfleur, but that we thought it not good to bruise an injury till it were full ripe. Therefore, consider of your ransom, which must proportion the losses we have borne, the subjects we have lost and the disgrace we have digested, which in weight to re-assess, England's pettiness would bow under. Indeed, your own person, kneeling at our feet, is but a weak and worthless satisfaction of our losses. To this, add defiance: you hath betrayed your followers, whose condemnation is pronounced. So much my king and master bids tell you, so much my office.)
