The Suggestion Box, Volume 3: One Thousand Words
In this edition of The Suggestion Box, I made some changes to the solicitations for each piece: (UPDATE: I have gone through and added, in parentheses, the genre of each "short story", if that helps! You'll see that there is a variety... be sure to read them all!) 1. Titles--All the segments have titles now, giving them a real sense of "short story." It also helped me differentiate between those lists that fit better as continuations for either my longer story arc (available here under the title "Serenity's Light") or separate entities. 2. Images--All segments came with an associated image from the outset, giving me added fuel for inspiration. 3. Word Limit--I set myself a goal of "one thousand words" to go with each list. Very often I exceeded it, but it also gave the opportunity for more development than just a quick "one-off," as it were. The "chapters" in this series are all strictly self-contained and (except in the case of a few) are unrelated to each other. Enjoy!Complete
The Siren Song of Mareveila
Book Description: In a kingdom nestled by the sea, where beauty masks danger and politics are as shifting as the tides, a fragile peace is shattered when rumors of sirens prove true-and deadly. When the beloved prince is lured into the ocean by an enchanting song and never returns, the king launches a brutal hunt, slaughtering the creatures of the deep in his grief and rage. But vengeance never comes without consequence. Beneath the waves, the Sea King mourns two daughters lost to the blades of men. And in his fury, he prepares for war. As his court begins to fracture, one of his sons, Prince Virel, is tasked with a mission of seduction and revenge: lure the human king's only daughter, Princess Helena, and destroy her. What begins as a plan to break her becomes something far more dangerous. Because Helena is not the naive royal Virel expected-she is fierce, clever, and scarred by grief of her own. And when betrayal crashes over both their worlds, neither is prepared for the ruin... or the spark. Now, alliances are shifting. Kings are scheming. And amidst whispers of war and the shadows of drowned love, a new question emerges: Can peace be born between two enemies bound by blood and heartbreak? Or will love drown where vengeance reigns? For fans of dark fantasy, enemies-to-lovers, political intrigue, and star-crossed fates, this sweeping tale of sea and sorrow will pull you beneath the surface... and refuse to let go.Complete
