In 1920s era upstate New York, the ruins of revolutionary war era estate lie moldering. In it, the matriarch of a once glorious family waits for the apocalypse, sending her granddaughter to mind matters outside the old, peeling walls.

To pay for her grandmother's eccentricity, Roslyn engages with a bootlegger, smuggling goods for the mysterious figure she can only see in mirrors to speakeasies down the valley.

Ethel is the center of all knowledge in the universe. Trapped behind her frosted glass wall, she continues her family tradition of service to the Praeter Family, the first European witch coven to migrate to the United States.

With the help of his magic mirror, John Praeter, the last of his line, runs the most successful speakeasy in all of New York, one that caters to odd and selective clientele, while searching for an old family enemy.

Finnegan Vary is that old family enemy, the bastard child of the fairy king, who will stop at nothing in his quest to rid the human world of users of the magic arts. His task? To follow the red coated errand girl the Praeter boy employs as a drug courier and bring down the entire Praeter clan.
