"I know for a fact that you're not happy here, you hate being stuck inside doing meaningless paperwork for everyone else on your team, and you know I'm right."
Leone Abbacchio dreamed of being a police officer for as long as he could remember. When he finally got the job at age 19, though, instead of going out and stopping criminals, he's an overworked, underpaid desk jockey, rarely ever even stepping out of the office, and free time is a myth. He looks up to his older brother, who is the deputy of their team, but can never seem to escape his shadow and make a name for himself.
After months of unhappiness with his career, he meets Bruno Bucciarati, a young member of a gang whose activity has spiked over recent weeks. After just a few conversations with the man, he realizes that life is more than just work and following every rule to the letter. The two become close over the course of a few days, soon becoming almost inseparable, but when tragedy strikes and all signs point to the person he thought was closest to him, Leone begins to question everything he'd ever been taught.
Including if he's really worth something in this world, or if that was also just a lie he was told.
