The sequel to The Aftermath at Mount Massive. This part of the story chronicles the adventures and misadventures as Miles, Waylon, and the Walrider as they go on the run from Murkoff. 

There will be action, sacrifice, humor and long sections of boring open road. The team will have to put aside their differences and fears if they hope to survive. It's not going to be easy, and it's definitely going to be one hell of a long road.

-Cross-post from my Ao3- The Aftermath at Mount Massive is part one of a three part series called Survivors. This part is done. It is a fanfic for the game Outlast, set after the first game/DLC. However, you don't have to know much about the game to jump in. This story follows an independent journalist named Miles Upshur who received an email from a whistleblower, Waylon Park, who worked at Murkoff Psychiatric Systems: Mount Massive. The hospital was supposed to be run as a charity, offering help to those who could not pay, or for those who other hospitals wouldn't accept. However, things weren't as they seemed and Murkoff was using the hospital as a cover for a laboratory where they were performing experiments on humans. The end result of such experiments was the creation of Project Walrider, a bio-nanite parasite that lives inside a human body. Miles stumbles into the facility during a security breach and riot. He manages to survive the night but in doing so becomes infected with the nanites, becoming the new host for Project Walrider. The Aftermath of Mount Massive is about Miles coming to terms with what being the Host means for both his humanity and future. Content Warning: This fic contains blood, gore, cannibalism, a suicide attempt, mild body horror, and language. If you are sensitive to any of those things I suggest not reading. Not liking the way Kimmy and Jake are with one another, they later on during the trip pick up a guy named Luke along the way and in return he offers them free accommodation at his father's cabins he rents out to back packers, the cosy cabins situated on a beautiful bit of land even Emily can't resist. Thanking Luke for the gesture it doesn't take long for Emily and Jake to get stuck into an argument due to Emily not being able to bite her tongue for much longer on the Jake and Kimmy situation, Jake disappearing the next day with Kimmy and leaving Emily to wonder exactly what the both of them got up to. With things not sitting right with her and discovering Kelsey isn't saying much on the whereabouts of her cousin and friend. Not to mention the girl's weird behaviour on the matter, she soon finds that Kelsey's hiding something after practically dragging it out of her, and it doesn't take her long to work out she's been ditched by all three of them and left stranded. Soon she discovers Jake's ignoring her calls when multiple attempts to try to contact him end up going unanswered and for things to start unravelling, the person who had been there for her during the messy breakup with Jake, no longer a shoulder for her to lean on. Far away from home and covered in the blood of those who wronged her, she can't help but feel guilty for them, even if they all did plan to hurt her behind her back.
