Г Book One of The Lives of The Crystal Series

Instead of three- there were four.

Soraya was nothing like her twin sister, Seladon. Preferring to remain absent beneath prying eyes and present in the background, the eldest princess gained an insight into the cursed hierarchy of Thra and the deception of the Skeksis. With the ongoing blindness of the gelflings, Soraya had no choice but to join the resistance but at what cost? The loyalty of her beloved sister? The lives of her people? or the stirrings for a certain Drenchen?

Sora has no place in the world. She is meant to be a strong warrior, with the ability to shift into a wolf. She is none of those things, and looked down upon because of it. It brings shame to her, it brings shame to her family, and worst of all, it brings shame upon her prideful and strong brother. There is but one person who truly knows and loves her, but does he really? Magic is not the weapon of a warrior, magic is the weapon of a coward. Sora has been told that all her life, but she has magic within her, recently awakened, and so she has begun to doubt it. Still, witchcraft is punishable by death, and so Sora must be careful with her practices, lest she lose all she has. Sora is a better witch than wolf, though not by much, but she still pursues that craft in spite of the dangers. Her place in the world is a dangerous one, but will it last? The world she lives in is a dangerous one, and such a life as hers rarely ends happily. Disclaimer: this is a short prequel, Sora's story does not conclude with this one. If you finish this book and go "oh, that's the end?" it's because it's not the end. I'm writing a trilogy called Mortance that explores the larger world that this takes place in and concludes Sora's story more thoroughly than in this book. Go read that next if you like my writing, thanks. Please leave any and all criticisms you might have, anything you like and anything you dislike, I want to make this as good as I can. P.S. the cover is literally just a drawing I made in physics class, I know it's bad, I'm not an artist.

Sypnosis: SkekDurn, UrAzshar, SkekTael and UrIon have long, lived apart from the rest of their kin in the idyllic Gelfling fishing village of Seacliff enjoying the solitude and peace of living apart from their kin. They have lived there in peace alongside the Gelfling of the Village who consider themselves blessed by their presence. But when a dreametched petal drifts into the village and the arrival of some castaways the four friends suddenly come to realise that maybe fate has found them again. ** SkekDurn, UrAzshar, Skektael, and UrIon are my Dark Crystal inspired characters. In 1982, Jim Henson released a brilliant movie called the Dark Crystal, and more recently in 2019 The Jim Henson Company released a series called The Dark Crystal -Age of Resistance. I have long been a fan of the Dark Crystal and have written a number of fanfictions taken in the world it was set in not to mention made my own Dark Crystal inspired OC's. SkekDurn the Sorceror and his mystic Counterpart UrAzshar the Magician, and their friend SkekTael the Scout and his Mystic Counterpart UrIon the Cartographer. This was a fanfiction I wrote involving my own Dark Crystal OC's. It is taken just before the Age of Resistance but does not really follow either the series or the books by J.M Lee but does contain elements of both **apologies for the length of chapters here was originally shared on Deviantart Cover art by me using Canva, it is of UrAzshar the Magician my Dark Crystal inspired OC

A disinherited princess and a kingdom on the verge of ruin. The birth of twins were once a joyous occasion in Vequera but in the year 602 C.E, it was anything but. A first-born daughter with a golden eye and a second-born son. The realm feared what the daughter would be capable of. None knew of her power or what she would do in the future if she became queen, so the throne was given to the second son in hopes he would save their house from possible ruin. Over the course of her life, she was neglected by her mother for being different like the "demons of the west." She began to harden as the years passed her by and the abuse she endured intensified until one day, she snapped, killing someone. The queen sends her away in order to keep the nobles at bay but little did she know that her decision to do so would cause the fall of everything she held dear. The fall of Vequera.
