"There has never been a music competition like Playlist." That's the claim, Playlist is guaranteed to give young artists a foothold in the industry. The winner get a contract to one of the biggest labels in the world: Republic Records. So when Playlist gets launched for singers ages 15-20, anyone in the nation who can remotely carry a tune enters with an original song. Including Taylor Menendez, a 16 year old New Yorker who's been writing songs his whole life, unreleased and unheard by everyone except his best friend turned new love, Jose-Luis. However, Taylor enters as "Lists," and Lists doesn't only advance in the competition, but gains fame as it goes on. Taylor has to figure out how to hide this new person from his conservative religious parents who can upend the whole situation. Meaning love, his career, and freedom are in jeopardy, and Taylor has to find out how to keep all three of them while still being the person he truthfully is.
