"Hope comes from the ruins of old empires, like a phoenix from the ashes" For years the nations of Cara and Palmyra had an ever growing hatred for one another. Growing from a small neighboring discord, to a near lethal animosity. Cara, the more powerful, was ruled by a vain and strong willed king while Palmyra was tamed yet loving. The same love that would be its demise when Cara attacked its capitol. With the citizens of the nations now joined under one foot, the people grow tense. But nowhere is more tense then the walls of Cara's palace that now welcomed the war prisoner and princess of the late Palmyra, Evangeline Kingston. Evangeline was brought to the palace after the attack on her home where she now finds her self drowning in grief and guilt. She was the only survivor of her capitol only to be put on display like a trophy. Despite her hatred for the King, she finds her self at ease with the children of the Carain Court. She meets Foster Lewis, the captains son, more commonly named Fox for his red hair and equally fiery character. Caleb Capet, the son of the king and sole heir of Cara, who might be her future husband given he is the crown prince. Astoria Carter, the daughter of a Dutchess, who is a kind and loyal spirit who has an obvious fondness for Caleb. (Obvious to everyone but him) Erik Capet, the son of the kings younger brother and Fourth in line for the throne, a calculating and charismatic boy who's good looks don't go unnoticed by Evangeline. Lastly Odette Eliot, the daughter of a Lady, who's self righteous demeanor and power hungry mind sets an instant disliking to anyone she meets. While Evangeline tries to navigate her new life, she worries about her people. She hears whispers about a growing rebellion lead by her subjects but doesn't believe them until the palace is attacked. She relies on her new friends to search for a way to save the lives of both their people and find who is behind the rebellion.

"I don't want your crown," he murmured, "just the parts of you you've never given away." He kissed her like he meant it. Lied to her like he didn't. ⚔︎⚔︎⚔︎ Once upon a time, in the mist-laced hills of the Gilded Kingdom, a princess was born - not merely to rule, but to become the greatest queen Aurelia had ever known. Raised behind the palace walls she was taught to walk with grace, speak with poise, and bury herself in the ancient tomes of the Great Library. But what becomes of a princess who dreams not of silk gowns, but steel blades? Who craves not a throne beside a king, but the freedom to forge her own fate? When the time comes to select her consort through the age-old contest, Lydia finds herself suffocating in a world of masks and manners. Among the peacocks of polished nobility that now swarm her home, she must navigate deception, ambition, and perhaps, the stirrings of something far more dangerous than politics. As snow falls red upon the palace grounds, whispers stir from the far reaches of the world. The Nine Kingdoms are rising. And destiny - long buried in blood and prophecy - begins to awaken. Lydia's path will lead her to a choice that could shatter her crown, her heart, and the very foundations of her realm. Her hand is at stake. The prize is her kingdom. Because when fairytales end... only steel remains. #1 of The Gilded Kingdom series
