The human world does not exist. The only world that does exist is a world in which only a small handful of people have special abilities. These people are special, and they are valued above all else. From birth, those who have no special abilities are separated. They are taken into a room and strapped down. When they dream, they dream a collective dream about the human race, and each of them is another person dreaming out another version of life. Eating and drinking are virtual, so resources are never drained. One of these dreamers is Allana, a fourteen-year-old girl living in poverty. About to die, Allana does something that has never happened before: she gets out. Faced with an almost impossible transition into a secretly corrupted society, Allana struggles to find her place in this new land. But first, she has to find herself, and figure out who she is and how she deals with corruption, especially when a villain arrives threatening to destroy Superbium.

It was Edith's third life. First she was a poor hardworking girl lost under the pressure of work in the modern world of airplanes and computers but then she died.... Then she found herself in the novel she used to read. The book was worn out as she had reread it several times and now she is bound to the plot as a character who had to avoid the fate of ending up the villainess's accomplice and save her life. Was this to avoid death or her lover? She couldn't really say but the only thing was some characters were now different from the initial novel plot especially Derek whom she loved.
