I was ten in the winter of 56 in a small town in North Carolina. That year I had started to realize the world I lived in. I lived in a small neighborhood, I barely left my block because of how much fear I had built up. My parents gave me the best life possible. So I studied till my eyes fell out to make something out of myself. At the beginning of the school year 63, I was moved to an all-white school an experiment to integrated schools. That is where I fell in love for the first time.

• The "er" version will not be used i chose to write black or the outdated "blacks" in it's place of "er" is just too loaded and this is not a history less on slurs therefore it is not needed. There is racism as I do not ignore this was a more outspoken time for racist and they didn't hide it in little hidden meanings. But this is a historic fiction romance so let's just fall in love with the love birds. Also since it is a historical fiction their are real things things I encourage you to go out and learn history about the minorities that live in the U.S. and even head out of the history in the U.S. there are so many things school won't show you, but we have everything we need in our back pockets. Don't stay in the dark because it's easy. I also used some slang from theses times so if you aren't sure use context clues or just look it up. Thank you to all the readers. ✨🧡 •
